Korean-German Funding Programme for Joint Workshops and Research Visits

Deadline: 17.04.2024 Research stays

This initiative from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) aims to bring together researchers from Germany and South Korea to establish collaborative scientific relationships and prepare joint projects. Funding is available for exploratory workshops and research visits (max. three months).

Exploratory workshops and research visits can be combined if they are in close temporal relation and if this promotes the particularly effective preparation of a joint project. All individual collaborative measures must be carried out within a maximum period of 12 months. Researchers in early career phases holding a doctoral degree are strongly encouraged to participate in the above-mentioned activities.

Each national funding organisation will cover the costs for travel and accommodation of the researchers based in the respective country. Organisational costs for workshops and for workshop participants from third countries are covered by the funding organisation of the host country.

Applicants from Korea submit their documents to the NRF, applicants from Germany to the DFG. All documents must be written in English and must be submitted by 17 April 2024. For first-time users of the DFG’s electronic proposal processing system “elan”, registration is required prior to 3 April 2024.

All proposals will be reviewed by both organisations separately. The results of the review process will be shared between the agencies. Support will be granted for proposals for which both DFG and NRF recommend funding.
