In 2011 the ESMT Sustainable Business Roundtable (SBRT) was initiated by Prof. CB Bhattacharya, Dean of International Relations and E.ON Chair in Corporate Responsibility. The international forum aims to support the mainstreaming of sustainability in the participating organizations. Prof. Matthew Bothner, Deutsche Telekom Chair in Leadership and HR Development, and Prof. Guillermo Baquero started two new seminar series, one dedicated to advancing the pipeline of faculty research, the other, co-hosted with the Humboldt-Universität Berlin, concentrating on finance.
ESMT initiated the Berlin Behavioral Economics Workshop to bring together behavioral and experimental economic researchers, together with Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW), Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB), and Technische Universität Berlin. The School also hosted the 8th Christmas Meeting of German-speaking Economists Abroad. The Center for Leadership Development Research built upon the success of the last few years, holding its third Coaching Colloquium. In total, more than 50 research seminars took place at ESMT in 2011. Speakers came from prestigious international institutions such as Harvard University, MIT Sloan School of Management, and Stanford University.
ESMT increased its commitment to the Berlin Doctoral Program in Economics & Management Science (BDPEMS), and faculty members held several courses and workshops in management science and behavioral economics. New and continued funding for ESMT research came from the Peter Curtius Foundation, DFG-Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg, and the European Commission.
“We are proud that we were able to increase our research output in 2011 and plan to continue in the years to come,” said Catalina Stefanescu-Cuntze, ESMT Director of Research.
