EU-Brazil: New network initiative aims at enhancing the cooperation in research, technology and entrepreneurship

In the next four years a consortium of twelve European and Brazilian organisations will set up CEBRABIC – the "Centre for Europe-Brazil Business and Innovation Cooperation". The new initiative is coordinated by Fraunhofer IPK, Berlin, Germany. Its headquarters will be located in Brasília, with representation offices in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

CEBRABIC is funded under the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Programme for Research and Innovation and aims at enhancing the cooperation in research, technology and entrepreneurship between the EU member states and Brazil.

The network is coordinated by Fraunhofer IPK, located in Berlin, Germany, which already has a cooperation track record and offices in Brazil.

The core aim of CEBRABIC is to create synergies with European research and innovation structures in Brazil in order to complement, expand and enhance its service portfolio. Stakeholders will be incorporated into the CEBRABIC network in various ways, both from the demand and the supply side: members, service providers, regional innovation hubs and focal points.

The network will support the creation of research, innovation and business opportunities for European organisations in Brazil, stimulating demand and cooperation. The Centre will not only provide support (such as networking, advice, training etc.) but also technology services, involving the network of regional innovation hubs and of external service providers,  and constantly seeking for links to the private industrial sector and to investors.

This will enable CEBRABIC to address knowledge-intensive sectors and offer a service portfolio that corresponds with an integrated approach towards the innovation value chain and stimulates research-to-market collaborative projects.
