German Center for Research and Innovation in New York releases Sixth Annual Report

As the German Center for Research and Innovation (GCRI) in New York celebrates its sixth anniversary, its mission remains focused on strengthening transatlantic collaboration in science and technology.

The German Center for Research and Innovation (GCRI) New York announced the release of its sixth annual report. Since its launch in 2010, the GCRI has become a multidisciplinary forum bringing together leaders in academia, industry, and government to foster strong public-private partnerships, facilitate the authorship of new publications, and address the global challenges of the 21st century. With its robust online presence and extensive network, the GCRI is uniquely positioned to help Germany maximize leverage of its intellectual capital and entrepreneurial creativity.

In 2015, GCRI events continued to address the critical challenges of the 21st century, which include climate and energy, health and nutrition, mobility, security, and communication. GCRI has also led the transatlantic dialogue in emerging and evolving areas, such as e-health, smart cities, artificial intelligence, and medical technologies. This annual report explores key topics impacting society today with articles ranging from “Turning the Tide on Ocean Destruction” and “Social Innovation: A New Path for Creating Social Change” to “Patient, Monitor Thyself: Risks and Revolution in Personal Health Monitoring.”

Throughout 2016-17, the GCRI will continue to pursue the goal of enhancing the perception of Germany as a world leader in innovation by facilitating discussion, debate, and collaboration among key constituents in North America and Germany. The 2016 areas of focus include artificial intelligence/robotics, neuroscience, Big Data, and smart sustainable cities. In 2017, the GCRI will focus on the areas of mental health, biotechnology, cyber security, and social innovation.
