The German Center for Research and Innovation (GCRI) is proud to announce the release of its fourth Annual Report. Since its launch in 2010, GCRI has become a nucleus for creative individuals interested in sharing new ideas and developing international collaborations, thanks to its diverse network and wide range of events.
In 2013, GCRI events continued to address the critical challenges of the 21st century, which include climate and energy, health and nutrition, mobility, security, and communication. GCRI also expanded its digital presence by further developing its website, increasing the number of newsletter subscribers, and broadening its visibility through social media. These enhancements have significantly increased the number of inquiries regarding research, funding, and employment opportunities in Germany. On an organizational level, the GCRI Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity, has continued to support the GCRI by attracting new sponsors and developing creative initiatives, including the Healthcare Innovation World Cup, which culminated in $75,000 worth of prizes. The collaboration with the three founding companies, SAP, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Zeiss, as well as other corporate partners, have led to improved financial security for the GCRI and constructive dialogue on topics of concern to the center.
Throughout 2014, GCRI will continue to pursue the goal of enhancing the perception of Germany as a world leader in innovation by facilitating discussion, debate, and collaboration among key constituents in the U.S., Canada, and Germany. Areas of focus include aging, renewable energy, entrepreneurship/tech transfer, manufacturing/ workforce development, and cyber security. In so doing, GCRI will continue the dialogue on issues and topics of critical importance to the world in which we live.
