ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) is a biennial event that started in 2004 in Stockholm and has since been held in Munich, Barcelona and Turin. It features a broad scope of exhibitors and visitors: Students, young researchers and scientists, teachers and experts, journalists and politicians, science buffs and members of the public used the chance to explore the frontiers of scientific and technological research and to debate controversial topics and compare experiences. Over 5,000 participants took part in more than 120 meetings and 20 Keynote Lectures given by high-calibre experts from the international world of science. 40 Exhibitors presented their activities at the Lingotto Conference and Exhibition Centre.
The IncoNet EECA stand offered information about the ongoing activities of the project and especially presented incrEAST, the comprehensive S&T web portal for Eastern European and Central Asian Countries. More than 100 visitors seized the opportunity for face to face talks with the members of the Central Information Office and to deepen their knowledge about the region.
Purpose-made for the exhibition the new brochure “Project of the Month” highlights the S&T cooperation potential with Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
On the joint stand with the IncoNet with South-East Asian Countries (SEU.EU NET) visitors received comprehensive country related information. Furthermore the EU-Project IncoNet with the Western Balkan (wbc-inco.net) organised a session within the official exhibitors programme and invited IncoNet EECA to present
- the objectives of the bi-regional collaboration with Eastern Europe and Central Asia now and in the future,
- IncoNet EECA as an instrument of the 7th Framework Programme as well as
- the web portal IncrEAST as unique information platform on S&T related subjects.
Moreover the networking with the project IncoNet with South Caucasus (IncoNet CA/SC) was described and explained comprehensively.
The IncoNet EECA and CA/SC Central Information Office will organise such activities continuously to make both projects more visible and enhance the recognition of their activities in the S&T community.
