A leader at joining theoretical knowledge with practical professional experience, Al-Quds University is pleased to announce the launch of the first Dual Studies Program in the Palestinian Territories, and the region, to provide students with work experience in their chosen fields throughout their time as undergraduates. The program will begin in September for the academic year 2015-2016, in cooperation with 15 leading Palestinian companies in the private sector.
The University plans to implement the Dual Studies Program in collaboration with prestigious German institutions in this area and funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) an international enterprise owned by the German Government. The program includes three major areas of study - computer and information technology, electrical engineering, and business administration - and will be conducted in English, with specialized English courses available to strengthen students' language capabilities.
Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hanna Abdel Nour, stated, "This program is very important for students who wish to gain knowledge by attending a university program leading to a bachelor's degree. At the same time, they need to gain the practical experience necessary to be engaged in a real working environment in an institution, a company, or a factory.
Dr. Abdel Nour added that "the University will bring students under contract with a company in their field from their first day of study in order to give them experience in an operational environment."
Ms. Barbara Wolf, the Head of the Representative Office of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ramallah, points out, "Germany is a strong partner in strengthening the Palestinian education system. The Dual Studies Program offers a win-win situation for Al-Quds University, companies and most importantly for the students who participate in this program. It will provide new perspectives for young Palestinians. Strong and transparent interaction between all partners in this project is key for its success".
