The cooperative research activities will take place over a remarkable range of fields – in environ-mental technology and architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture, in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and nanostructure sciences, as well as in linguistics and cultural studies. In addition, cooperative activities in the area of knowledge transfer will be established. Approximately 40 Argentine scholars and scientists are planning to be in attendance for the four-day conference together with 20 colleagues from Kassel University to make arrangements for a multitude of research projects in the various fields. Representatives from large funding organisations such as the German Research Foundation will also be on hand to provide information about the possibilities of funding research.
“The conference should not only facilitate bilateral arrangements but also serve to establish scientific networks,” emphasized Kassel University's President Prof. Dr. Rolf-Dieter Postlep. “The meeting represents a milestone in our strategic partnership with Argentine universities, a partnership which will be of remarkable importance nationwide, and one that contributes significantly to the international orientation of our university.”
The strategic cooperation between the University of Kassel and six Argentine universities will also include exchanges of students and teaching staff in addition to the planned research work and knowledge transfer. On the Argentine side, the following universities will be participating: Universidad Nacional de San Martín, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Universidad Nacional del Litoral and Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. Prof. Postlep signed general agreements enabling these cooperative activities in spring 2013 during a trip through South America. North Hessian companies such as Wintershall are also involved in the cooperation.
The conference will be opened by Prof. Postlep and the rector of Universidad Nacional de San Martín. The Argentine ambassador in Germany Dr. Adán Polski will also make opening remarks at the conference, which will be held in the Gießhaus at the University of Kassel. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research is providing funding.
The conference program and further information are available online.
