Twenty-five German universities and research institutes will present their international PhD programmes and discuss employment opportunities with highly qualified candidates from China.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and its campaign “Research in Germany – Land of Ideas”, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is coordinating the German delegation at the PhD Workshop China 2011.
The two-day career event will offer Chinese graduate students a platform to learn more about PhD and research opportunities in foreign countries. Organised by the Chinese Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), the event will give aspiring researchers an opportunity to meet personally with representatives of foreign colleges and universities.
With the goal of fostering Sino-German research cooperation and bilateral exchange programmes for young scientists, the German delegation will also participate in a networking event with Chinese universities and science organisations on 24 November.
Representatives from both countries will be assigned to round-table discussions according to research subject and have the opportunity to discuss joint projects. The agenda of this preparatory event will also include briefings and presentations on the part of the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), the CEAIE and the DAAD which support the internationalisation and cooperation efforts of their respective governments.
