They include priority recommendations in five Horizon2020 societal challenges, strategic policy priorities, and strategic action priorities in the Pacific.
The addressed challenges are
- Challenge 1: Health, demographic change and wellbeing;
- Challenge 2: Food security, sustainable agriculture & forestry, marine & maritime and inland water research;
- Challenge 3: Secure, clean and efficient energy;
- Challenge 5: Climate action, resource efficiency and raw materials, and-
- Challenge 6: Inclusive, innovative and secure societies.
The strategic policy priorities target three key areas:
- The need for a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda;
- the need for Pan-Pacific Research Governance, and
- the need for Systematic Capacity Building.
The strategic action priorities reflect immediate and mid-term actions. Examples are the creation of regional thematic task forces for research coordination and the wide dissemination of outcomes of the PACE–Net project to catalyze the development of national & regional research policy frameworks.
PACE-Net recommends also regional priorities for the Pacific by contributing to the Pacific Plan review.
