Report on research, innovation and technological performance 2015: English summary released

On February 25, the 2015 report "Research, innovation and technological performance in Germany" of the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation was presented to the chancellor Angela Merkel. An English summary of the report is now available.

The report summary depicts current developments and trends:

  • Recent trends in science and research policies,
  • Germany’s R&D intensity and innovation activities of SMEs,
  • The new High-Tech Strategy,
  • The Federal Government’s Digital Agenda,
  • Framework conditions for venture capital in Germany;

and identifies "core topics 2015":

  • Promoting innovation through cluster policies,
  • Innovation in the educational sector - Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs),
  • Digital innovation and the need for reform in copyright law,
  • Additive manufacturing.

The Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation was established by the German government in 2006. It is is responsible for giving scientific policy advice for the development of the German research and innovation system.
