The signatories of the new agreement, TUM President Professor Wolfgang Herrmann and President of Skoltech and the member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Kuleshov, met in Skolkovo near Moscow on May 29 and 30. The Skolkovo Innovation Center and Technopark is a Russian research and industrial area, modeled after Silicon Valley in the USA, where state-of-the-art technologies are being developed.
The agreement allows for extensive cooperation in the areas of additive manufacturing, photonics, quantum computing, robotics and life sciences, among others. In total, more than twenty professors from both sides are to participate in joint projects, strengthening and expanding also the overall scientific cooperation between Germany and Russia.
President Herrmann was accompanied by a delegation, including TUM’s the Senior Vice President for International Alliances and Alumni, Professor Juliane Winkelmann, and also a representative of the TUM Entrepreneurship Team. The visit coincided with the annual Startup Village event at Skolkovo – an international startup conference, where young tech entrepreneurs present their ideas to investors. President Herrmann discussed best practices in promoting talents with representatives from business and politics in two panels. TUM and Skoltech both share a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, areas in which both institutions soon hope to implement projects together.
