The role of the High Council for Research and Technology (Conseil superieur de la recherche et de la technologie - CSRT) is to give its opinion (on behalf of the scientific and technological communities) on research and technological issues. Its role is consultative.
Implemented in 1982, the Council is consulted on all the major choices made by the Government on scientific and technological policy, and in particular on the proposed annual research budget. The Council is also responsible for monitoring and organising dialogue between the research sector and society. The CSRT can also provide its opinion on any issue related to research and technology policies.
