The joint call will be open for applications from September until November 2012. The start of the project funding is scheduled for April 2012. Projects with length of up to two years from the thematic areas “Efficient Energy Storage and Distribution” or “Resilience Against Disasters” are to be funded by the programme.
The funding institutions participating in this call are expected to be from Japan, Turkey, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia, France and Romania. Eligible projects have to consist of at least one Japanese and two European partners from the participating countries listed above. Detailed information as well as the application documents will be published in September 2012 on the project website.
In order to facilitate the formation of consortia for scientists from the participating countries, two-day partnering events are organized in September for each thematic area. On the first day, scientists are expected to present their project ideas and research experience to lay the cornerstone for a joint proposal in the CONCERT Pilot Joint Call. In addition, eligibility criteria and requirements as well as the application procedure are being presented in detail. The second day is reserved for the one-to-one matchmaking sessions between Japanese and European Researchers.
Scientists who work in the thematic areas specified above are invited to participate in the brokerage events. To apply for these events they have to submit a brief profile to the host organisations of the respective event. From all profiles received, up to 40 scientists will be selected and invited to the partnering events in Milan or Tokyo respectively to present their project ideas. Scientists who are not selected can participate at their own expense. The deadline for submitting applications is 9 July 2012.
