Journal Sustainability Nexus Forum and Sustainability Nexus Symposium

Laufzeit: 14.12.2022 - 31.12.2023 Förderkennzeichen: JSNF2023
Koordinator: United Nations University (UNU - FLORES)

In 2023, the new journal, "Sustainability Nexus Forum" (SNF) is set to be launched by Springer Verlag. The concept was developed in cooperation between Professor Edeltraud Guenther, Director of the United Nations University (UNU-FLORES), and Professor Dirk Messner, President of the German Environment Agency. Together, they will act as editors-in-chief, and bring together a team of international experts from science, politics, and practice to enhance the publication with their unique skillsets. The objective of SNF is to fill a gap in the academic journal landscape, in that it has so far demonstrated to be intradisciplinary in nature, without reflecting the interactions and connections between disciplines, sectors, scales, and policy levels. The Journal aims to provide a platform to promote discourse on the transformation of our world as we work to achieve the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Crucial to these efforts are integrated systems assessment and management strategies to address the linkages and collaborations that encapsulate the interdependencies of multiple resources or issues - the so-called Nexus Approach. For the Journal’s first year of operation, the field of the "Sustainability Nexus" shall be established and then strengthened in a symposium.
