The funding which would allow researchers from the partnership to develop a sustainable platform to share resources and skills was a new initiative to understand chronic disease in Africa.
With the five years funding the African Partnership for Chronic Disease Research (APCDR) as an international research partnership that assesses the burden and causes of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and heart disease in sub-Saharan Africa will now be strengthened to carry out her mandate.
The fund would also allow researchers from the partnership to develop long-term strategies for disease control and management in sub-Saharan Africa.
