RAME

In the joint research project „Mining and Environment in Vietnam" (2007-2014) scientists and engineers develop methods to mitigate environmental impacts in mining areas exemplary for the hard-coal mining areas in Quang Ninh, Vietnam. The main Vietnamese partner in the project is VINACOMIN Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited. The methods include technical measures as well as concepts for the improvement of the environmental management.

The hardcoal mining areas of Quang Ninh are located close to Ha Long Bay which is recognized as world natural heritage site by UNESCO and as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The developed concepts and measures contribute to the protection of Ha Long Bay’s unique environ-ment.

The project is co-financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the involved German companies and VINACOMIN.
