JITRI is aimed to be a top industrial technology research center in China that may further have significant influences in the world. It focuses on bridging the gap between fundamental technology research and their commercialization of by taking on industrial technology researches. It further focuses on researches that serve the needs stemming from economic structure transformation and the purposes of industrial innovation and market oriented product development.
So far, JITRI has 39 specialty research institutes and over 6,000 personnel, as well as about 500,000㎡ of operating sites, RMB 2.6 billion (US$ 500 million) of equipment and annual total R&D expenditure of about RMB 1.5 billion (US$ 300 million).
JITRI has established 7 provincial industrial technology innovation centers in the fields of nanotechnology, medical equipment, intelligent equipment, laser and optoelectronics, telecommunication and network, environmental-protection equipment, and internet of things etc.
