Vietnamese cities with a population more than 1 million inhabitants (i.e. Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, and Hai Phong) must respond to the challenges of significant socio-economic dynamics, especially on issues of growth, migration, fragmentation, polarization, resource scarcity, infrastructure bottlenecks and housing supply.
To maintain the operability of growth poles, integrated planning- and development projects, investments, and participation of various stakeholders are necessary. We are interested in papers on VietNam that address the following four topics and themes:
- (Mega)cities as risk areas of global change on the grounds of socio-economic fragmentation and disparities.
- Socio-economic vulnerability in respect to the number of people, political centers, economic networks, public utilities and socio-cultural conflicts.
- Social coherence within (mega)cities.
- City-connectivity, inter-city economic relationships, and knowledge management between cities.
