The Automotive Week 2011 will be held from 14-22 May 2011 in the Brainport region around Eindhoven and Helmond. The theme for the Automotive Week 2011 is Both international professionals and a broad public audience are invited to take a comprehensive look behind the scenes at Dutch innovations in automotive technology and smart mobility.
About the Automotive Week
During an extensive week in May 2011, the Brainport region in the Netherlands will be the international stage for the latest trends and technological developments in the automotive industry. With the theme of ‘Building the future in mobility’, companies, knowledge institutes and government are joining forces to present their innovations in automotive technology and smart mobility to both international professionals and the broad public.
Things to see and do
The programme offers a variety of events in Helmond and Eindhoven: state-of-the-art experiments of cooperative systems and the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge to be held on the A270 highway, the first official tests on the A270-test site, the 8th International Automotive Congress on Smart Mobility and Future Powertrains, the HTAS Battery Day 2011 on battery technology in electric cars, an Automotive Day for interested prospective students and a Classic Car event.
Why organising the Automotive Week?
The Automotive Week presents visitors with the Dutch vision of the automotive future. Brabant, and particularly the Brainport region, is a testbed for innovative traffic systems. The Brainport region has developed into a leading automotive hotspot with advanced R&D and test facilities. The expertise in the region is clustered on the High Tech Automotive Campus in Helmond.
Key factor for the Netherlands’ leading position in Europe is the highly effective partnership between companies, knowledge institutes and government. The result is an environment that supports rapid developments in the field of in-car technology and intelligent cooperative systems.
The Netherlands as annual international showcase
The Automotive Week 2011 is more than a one-off, stand-alone event. The knowledge-driven climate in the Netherlands is boosting new initiatives in the field of smart mobility. The Netherlands will present these new developments annually. The setting will alternately be Intertraffic, the world’s leading trade fair for infrastructure and ITS traffic management, held in the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam,and the Automotive Week in the Brainport region.
