The BioInnovation Growth mega-Cluster (BIG-C) is a cross-border ‘Smart Specialisation Initiative’ aiming to transform Europe’s industrial mega cluster in the Flanders region of Belgium (Fl), The Netherlands (NL) and the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) into the global leader of bio-based innovation growth. The overarching goal is a comprehensive feedstock change with a focus on regionally available and sustainable raw materials, climate protection and the safeguarding of jobs in the mega region. BIG-C was initiated by the three cluster organisations BE-Basic (NL), Catalisti (Fl, Belgium) and Cluster Industrielle Biotechnologie e.V. (CLIB2021 - NRW, Germany).
On 12 June BIG-C will organize a Stakeholder Meeting. The goal of this matchmaking event is to inform you about the progress of the initiative as well as to connect companies and research institutes from different areas, to identify innovative ideas, form consortia and start projects to foster the bioeconomy in the BIG-C region. Topics are “Aromatics from woody biomass”, “C1 gases to chemicals”, “Aviation fuels from various feedstocks” and “Circular economy education”.
