Photonics – €65.8 billion EU market with a 6.5% annual growth rate, 377,000 jobs and an estimated 5,000 companies – is a key area for EU growth. This workshop, jointly organised by EPIC, ERRIN and Photonics21, is linked to the Day of Photonics and will outline future EU policy on photonics and examine how industrial and regional stakeholders can support photonics and its contribution to economic growth. Regions with photonics as a smart specialisation priority will present their strategies and their implementation actions. These presentations will lead to the panel and participants identifying the future needs of photonics industries.
The workshop will therefore be of particular interest to regional stakeholders involved in policy making, smart specialisation strategies, cluster policies, innovation strategies as well as all levels of the photonics industry. The workshop will be an opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of current policies in photonics, meet potential partners for future photonics projects at the EU level and discuss future funding opportunities for SMEs.
