An agreement between the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR, France), Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, Germany), the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC, UK) and the Nederlands Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NOW, Netherlands)
After a successful first call in 2010, ANR, DFG, ESRC and NWO will relaunch a common call for proposals in 2011. The Open Research Area (ORA) scheme will provide for the funding of integrated projects by researchers coming from more than one of the four participating countries – in any combination of two or more countries.
The call for proposals for the ORA call 2011 will be published on the ANR, DFG, ESRC and NWO websites in spring 2011.
The four funding organisations will prepare a common point for electronic applications. An online platform will be open for applications under this scheme from the 1 July 2011 on. The deadline for the call will be in 30th September 2011.
National agencies expect to communicate funding decisions by the end of June 2012. The earliest start date for successful applications will be 1 July 2012, with integrated projects from each country starting on the same date.
Please note this scheme replaces existing bilateral schemes between ESRC and ANR, ESRC and DFG, and ESRC and NWO. French-German bilateral projects will continue to be funded under the ANR-DFG scheme for Social Sciences and Humanities and are therefore excluded from this call.
