The National Information Processing Institute [in Polish: Ośrodek Przetwarzania Informacji – Państwowy Instytut Badawczy (OPI PIB)] is a research institute supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Its principal aim is to provide access to complex and up-to-date information concerning Polish science.

Set up in 1990 and made available online since 1999, "Polish Science" [in Polish: Nauka Polska] is the oldest database of the National Information Processing Institute.

In addition, the institute conducts its own R&D projects, mainly of an applicable character, which can serve as a stimulus for development of science, technology transfer and improvement of the higher education system.

Financial support to R&D projects is implemented with the involvement of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and other executive agencies supervised by the Ministry.
