The workshop is organized as a bottom-up initiative by scientists of universities and non-university research institutes in Germany (Brandenburg/Berlin area) and Turkey (Izmir). It brings together 15 German and 15 Turkish senior and excellent young scientists from the different areas of the research field of Biogas: anaerobis digestion technology, microbiology, assessment, sustainability - to form an interdisziplinary team. Partners from industry will join the workshop. The three days of the workshop will offer enough time for presentations, demonstration, talks, round tables and institutes or company visits. It will unlock collaboration potentials, both in academia and academic-industrial fields for joint research activities (bilateral and EU initiatives). Long-term goals are mutual cooperations, student or scientists exchange, know how transfer from academia to industry/academia to academia beyond geographic borders to stimulate future joint research towards an effective and efficient biogas chain. The German and Turkish scientific coordinators will be present at the workshop to ensure the sustainability of the meeting and to encourage further contacts.
