The development and uptake of advanced manufacturing is essential for the future of EU industry. Wireless applications are a key enabler of advanced manufacturing, and are increasingly present in the manufacturing environment.
These applications concern both humans and machines, and include inter alia safety, control, monitoring, and personal communications. The availability of appropriate radio spectrum resources and a sound approach for co-existence issues is a condition for success.
This forward-looking workshop has been organised by the Commission in order to ensure that the needs of advanced manufacturing are fully integrated in the policies for spectrum management and related standardisation.
