The Young Investigator International Call seeks to select up to 20 proposals from young leaders across various fields of knowledge, encouraging them to establish innovative research groups within the São Paulo State, Brazil. With this initiative, FAPESP aims to enhance the state's scientific landscape and foster São Paulo State institutions as hub for global talent.
The foundation is calling for high-quality proposals that demonstrate not only a strong research vision but also the potential for significant impact within their respective areas. Applicants must provide a comprehensive project plan outlining their proposed research activities, the intended outcomes, and how they envision building a sustainable group in São Paulo. FAPESP offers competitive funding packages designed to support the establishment of these research groups. This financial backing aims to cover essential costs, including stipend for Young Investigator, students scholarships, laboratory equipment, and other resources necessary for conducting high-level scientific inquiry.
This Call is open for researchers of all nationalities necessarily working and living abroad for at least 2 years who wish to establish or start a research career at research institutions located in the State of São Paulo. All areas of knowledge and research are eligible for this Call, from basic to applied research. The duration of the proposed project must be 60 months.
Applicants are expected to propose innovative, outstanding, and high impact research projects that also promote the development of highly qualified human resources, including undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows pursuing high quality and impactful research.
The proposal submission will occur exclusively through FAPESP's SAGe system and will be split in three steps:
- Pre-proposal submission (Deadline: June 3rd, 2025);
- Full proposal submission (Deadline: August 27th, 2025);
