The Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) are partnerships that bring together businesses, research centres and universities. They allow:
- innovative products and services to be developed in every area imaginable, including climate change, healthy living and active ageing,
- new companies to be started,
- a new generation of entrepreneurs to be trained.
Since January 2019, EIT Urban Mobility has been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. It aims to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. By fostering innovation and transformation, it's planed to improve people’s quality of life, decarbonise mobility and make Europe’s economy more competitive. It receives co-funding of up to EUR 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT.
EIT Urban Mobility is an institutionalised Partnership under Horizon Europe.
