The Council for Science and Technology (CST) advises the Prime Minister on science and technology policy issues which cut across the responsibilities of government departments. The members are senior figures from the fields of science, engineering and technology. They are appointed by the Prime Minister. The council is supported by a secretariat based in the Government Office for Science and co-chaired by the Government Chief Scientific Adviser (GCSA).
