The Copernicus Marine Service Ocean State Report is a Reference Report of the European Union. The annual publication provides a comprehensive and state-of-the-art report on the current state, natural variations, and ongoing changes in the European regional seas and global ocean.
The 5th edition of the Copernicus Marine Service Ocean State Report (OSR 5) published in 2021 provides information on changes and variations in the ocean over the past decades, with a focus on changes in the marine environment particularly during the year 2019. It is written by 150 scientific experts from more than 30 institutions and draws from the marine monitoring capabilities of the Copernicus Marine Service.
Available in a concise, illustrated, and easily accessible format, the Summary is intended to act as a reference for the scientific community, policy-makers, and the general public to better understand the importance and impacts of a changing ocean.
The Ocean State report is a supplement of the Journal of Operational Oceanography (JOO), an official Publication of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST).
