The objective of the workshop "Challenges and opportunities for interregional cooperation in agri-food Systems" organised by Directorate-General for Research and Innovation in cooperation with Joint Research Centre, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development and Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy is to showcase and discuss five interregional partnerships participating in the Thematic Smart Specialisation Platform on Agri-Food:
- Consumer Involvement in Agri-food Innovation,
- High Tech Farming,
- Nutritional Ingredients,
- Smart sensor systems for agri-food and
- Traceability & Big Data.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on achievements, challenges and opportunities for transregional cooperation in agri-food systems and in fostering quadruple helix innovation.
Some of key issues discussed during the workshop focus on overcoming regulatory obstacles for investment, understanding financial instruments, improving governance and interoperability, as well as responding to skills and training needs.
